I love kettlebells but give me kale and bacon

I overheard a water cooler conversation the other day. It went along the lines of, "Now that I'm older, I can't seem to get rid of these nagging 5 pounds. I don't get it, I workout everyday."

Sound familiar? While I don't know anything about their diet or their exercise plan, my first question will always be what are you eating? I don't care how much you work out, nutrition is the pillar to your waistline and sports performance. It's cliche but it's true, you are what you eat and you better be eating in the kitchen because abs are made there. 

In my early 20's I walked 25 minutes to the gym, worked out for an hour, sometimes went back for yoga in the evening, and walked home. I still hated my body. But I ate like crap, despite thinking I was eating fairly clean and when I didn't, I put all my money on working out to save me. SO. COMPLETELY. WRONG. Exercising is great for your body, but it's not a unicorn. No amount of exercise can undo a poor diet. As soon as I began eating real, whole food, my body changed, regardless of the time I put in at the gym. If only I knew then what I know now!
